biography

Ben Davies studied at the Royal Academy of Music and has gone on to enjoy a hugely varied career in singing, encompassing everything from recording computer game soundtracks to operatic roles on stages around the world.

After serving four years in the chorus of Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Ben started specialising in consort and early music and has sung with many of the foremost vocal ensembles in the world including The Monteverdi Choir, The Tallis Scholars, Les Arts Florissants, Tenebrae, The Gabrieli Consort, The Marian Consort, I Fagiolini, ORA Singers, and The Cardinall’s Musick. However, it is with The Sixteen that Ben has been most closely associated, having sung regularly with them for over twenty years. With The Sixteen he has toured, broadcast, and recorded extensively. Recently, Ben was the bass soloist on their live premiere recording of Sir James MacMillan’s 5th Symphony.

Well known for his interpretation of baroque repertoire, and in particular the works of JS Bach, Ben is also proud to be associated with The Feinstein Ensemble and The Oxford Bach Soloists, both groups that specialise in historically informed performance of Bach and his contemporaries.
