JS Bach - Ein ungefärbt Gemüte, BWV 24; Die Elenden sollen essen, BWV 75

  • Royal Adademy of Music (map)

Eamonn Dougan, Associate Conductor of The Sixteen and founding Director of Britten Sinfonia Voices, directs a programme including the first cantata written as part of Bach’s official appointment as Thomaskantor in Leipzig. Die Elenden sollen essen is an extensive work in two parts, featuring solo movements from all four voice parts and a wide range of obbligato instruments. It was with this work that the first cycle of cantatas for every Sunday of the church year began. Three weeks later, it was followed by the unusually shaped, unforgettable Ein ungefärbt Gemüte.
